If you’ve been asking:
How do I fully describe the world of my story?
How can I improve my dialog?
How do I use flashbacks effectively?
How do I balance exterior action and interior thoughts?
How do I transition between scene, reflection and summary?
How can I use these techniques to authentically convey emotions?
Get answers, guidance, and an opportunity to write in this 6-week workshop. HERE’S WHAT WE’LL EXPLORE:
SCENE
Week 1 - Action and Description
Week 2 - Dialog and Goals
SUMMARY
Week 3 - Character and Emotion
Week 4 - Flashbacks and Transitions
REFLECTION
Week 5 - Transformation and New Perspective
Week 6 - Building a Sequence
Scene, summary and reflection are the building blocks of prose. When combined, they make sequences. What are they, how do you use them, and how can they enhance the way you tell your story?
In my workshops, we explore writing through somatic movement, guided visioning, multidimensional prompts, and supportive group reflection.
We start each session with a short somatic exercise.
Energy medicine and somatic movement:
Helps you arrive in the present moment
Calms the mind and helps connect to your body
Regulates breathing
‘‘I am blown away by how Karen understood the essence of what I’ve been trying to tell the world immediately. In such a short time, I went from being stuck in my own head to having it just flow out. Karen has a special gift for seeing between the lines which gives the soul a boost of confidence.”
- Gemi S.
Guided visioning:
Reduces anxiety and activates imagination
Helps process emotions by favoring an observational stance. Emotions are revisited, not reactivated.
Overrides doubt with curiosity
Boosts creativity
Improves memory - writers often remark about something they wrote, “I had totally forgotten about this moment, but it came back so clearly!”
Experiential prompts help you access a key emotional moment in your story.
Multidimensional prompts help you relax into your full potential, experience wonderment, and access scenes and memories in vivid, literary detail.
You’ll free-write, using a timer, accompanied by Solfeggio frequencies, which enhance brain power by resonating in harmony with the natural resonance of the Earth.
Working with a timer:
Makes getting started easier
Mutes distractions
Establishes accountability
Increases motivation
Activates a sense of urgency
Retrains the brain to focus
"Karen has created a truly meaningful and well-structured workshop that allows you to explore your inner self through the art of writing. She created a safe space for all of us to share our personal stories without judgment, and taught us about the power of communication, self-reflection, and story-telling."
- Antonio L.
Group reflection:
Provides essential supportive feedback
Creates community
Transmutes dissonance into resonance
Writers go from: What did I just write? Is this any good? to feeling seen, heard and validated
By associating repeated positive experiences with writing, writers are better able to write independently and approach projects with curiosity and confidence.
Small group sessions with professional writing guidance. All sessions will be recorded and available for replay.
